What were the citizen’s first impression when the New Deal Program was introduced to the public in the 1930's?
The New Deal was considered at the time to be the most phenomenal act that came down in history. When President Franklin Roosevelt released a statement about new jobs opening, citizens were thrilled, both men and women have greater chance of being in a business (NWHM Exhibit: A History of Women in Industry). Before the change, about 25% of people were unemployed. The percentage was the highest in history and everyone pleaded for any kind of relief (The New Deal). After 4 years of hardship, Franklin Roosevelt became president in 1932. He promised the American people about the New Deal Plan during the election and quickly took action in March of next year (What Measures Did Roosevelt Introduce to Deal with the Depression).
